Google baut weiter die hauseigene Hardware-Sparte aus, wie zwei aktuelle Stellenausschreibungen bei Google Careers (hier und hier) zeigen.
Dort sucht man nach einem SP Hardware Engineerin für den Bereich Wearables und stellt gleich ernste Anforderungen an die Bewerber: die müssen mindestens über 15 Jahre Erfahrung in der Entwicklung von consumer products haben und 12 Jahre Erfahrung im Bereich Design und Prosuktion von Geräten mit Auftragsfertigungen und in eigener Fertigung.
Am liebsten hätte man laut Stellenbeschreibung jemanden, der Erfahrung in der Auslieferung von hunderten von Millionen Geräten hat und sich mit weltweitem Business auskennt. Ziemlich klare Aussagen für den Wearable-Bereich von Google. Und dass man hier nicht nur jemanden sucht, der eventuell neue Pixel Buds betreuen soll, sollte an dieser Stelle klar sein.
In der Beschreibung heißt es außerdem:

In addition, you will set up strategies to set long-term initiatives and developments in motion. You will manage and guide a team of Industrial Designers, both in terms of their career development as well as the projects they are leading, creating a culture of connectedness, spirit for innovation and beauty.
Das dürfte wohl nach dem Kauf diverser Technologien von Fossil, die erst kürzlich beschlossen wrude und Google immerhin rund 40 Millionen Dollar gekostet hat, das letzte Indiz dafür sein, dass man in Mountain View nun auch anfangen wird, seine eigenen Wearables zu entwickeln und fertigen.
Bis wir allerdings tatsächlich eine erste Pixel Watch oder Fitnesstracker und andere Wearables von Google sehen werden, dürfte noch einige Zeit ins Land gehen. Gespannt bin ich allerdings jetzt schon.
