Die größte Messe für mobie devices wurde nach vielen Absagen von Herstellern nun komplett abgesagt.
Seit Jahren ist der Mobile World Congress eines der wohl wichtigsten Events in der Szene rund um mobile Endgeräte, Smartphones und Wearables. Viele Hersteller nutzen neben der IFA im späteren Verlauf des Jahres den MWC, um neue Smartphones und Technologien vorzustellen, aber nachdem mehrere Hersteller wegen Bedenken rund um den aktuell grassierenden Corona Virus ihre Teilnahme abgesagt hatten, hat der Veranstalter GSMA nun de Reißleine gezogen und die gesamte Messe gecancelt.
In einem Statement heißt es:
Since the first edition of Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in 2006, the GSMA has convened the industry, governments, ministers, policymakers, operators and industry leaders across the broader ecosystem.
With due regard to the safe and healthy environment in Barcelona and the host country today, the GSMA has cancelled MWC Barcelona 2020 because the global concern regarding the coronavirus outbreak, travel concern and other circumstances, make it impossible for the GSMA to hold the event.
The Host City Parties respect and understand this decision.
The GSMA and the Host City Parties will continue to be working in unison and supporting each other for MWC Barcelona 2021 and future editions.
Our sympathies at this time are with those affected in China, and all around the world.
In den letzten Tagen hatten Nokia, LG, Sony, Nvidia, Amazon, Erricson, Intel, Vivo, ZTE, TCL, Gigaset und MediaTek unter anderen Herstellern ihre Teilnahme an der Messe abgesagt.
Einige Hersteller werden ihre Ankündigungen auf online-Vorstellungen und/oder einzelne kleine Events verteilen.
